  I lost my best dog ever this morning and Dr. Johnson and all the staff at VCA Lakeview Animal Hospital were wonderful to my Sonny Boy and me. Words cannot adequately describe their kindness and compassion. My Sonny became very ill over the weekend. I called them first thing this morning, and although they were fully booked and cautioned me there might be a wait, they were ready for me with a stretcher since Sonny couldn’t walk. As soon as they saw how sick he was, both vets Dr. Johnson and Dr. Pozzuoli both immediately examined him. They immediately did an ultrasound and detecting fluid in his abdominal cavity drew a sample. They diagnosed a perforated bowel and resulting sepsis as source of rapid decline. Although other tests could have been done, they were honest about Sonny’s diagnosis and possible outcomes. I had gone home but Dr. Johnson called me with preliminary results as I pulled into my driveway. I returned immediately and on my way back, Dr. Johnson called again to report high bacteria count when they examined abdominal fluid on a slide. When I got there, he showed me samples of urine and abdominal fluid. For the euthanasia, I was escorted back to where Sonny was. A lovely technician (wish I could remember her name) was holding Sonny lovingly and stroking him. She moved over and I held my guy, said my long goodbye, and continued to hold him til the end. They waited patiently as I cried and only discussed burial/cremation options when I was ready. They kept my costs reasonable and I didn’t feel pushed for anything else. They simply explained their findings and my options so I could choose what to do with full knowledge. I have been with this clinic since 1988. I do not understand some of the negative reviews here at all. Yes, there have been some personnel changes but the quality of care here remains outstanding. I can only assume that there are some misunderstandings here. There may have been some impatience with new staff learning the ropes. It is hard to be reasonable when you are worried about your beloved animal companion. I am very pleased with the honesty, compassion, professionalism and quality of care here. I highly recommend VCA Lakeview. Dr. Johnson is my vet now for all my pets.

  The BEST veterinarian!! Dr Pozzuoli is so nice, super kind with our pets, and is very open about different means of treatment. His staff are great listeners and they address all your issues. I wouldn't take my babies anywhere else. This is a wonderful vet office.
